Frequently Asked Questions
How many beers are in a keg?
It depends on the size of the keg and the size of the beer you pour. Here is a handy dandy table to help you out. Also, for planning purposes, figure about 50 people/keg (at about 3 beers each). Adjust the number/size of kegs to the needs of your party, the drinking capacity of your party attendees, and whether or not you have other adult beverages involved.
What do I need to rent a keg at Liquor Box?
Well, the short answer is cash and a valid Texas driver's license or identification card. If you are paying by credit card or check, the name needs to match your valid identification. You of course, also need to be 21 years of age.
If you need a tap and tub, we can set you up with that, too — no charge! All you do is leave us a deposit for the equipment you borrow.
Remember, it's always best to have a reservation for the keg you want.
Do I have to pay extra for a tap and cooler with my keg purchase?
No, unlike many other places, we don't charge extra for you to borrow additional equipment(tap, tub, keg shell). We ask that you leave a deposit for the equipment, upon return we give you your deposit back.
When do I have to return the tap, cooler, and keg shell?
We give you three days to return the equipment you borrowed from us (by leaving a deposit). If you haven''t returned it by then, we'll try and contact you via phone as a courtesy. If we can't reach you and you don't return the keg timely, we'll charge the deposit you left with us.
Why does a charge for the keg equipment deposit show up on my credit card statement (when I look at it online)?
The charge will show as pending at your credit card account. When you use a credit card for your deposit, we run what is called an "authorization hold" -- similar to what a hotel does when you check in (or when you run a tab at a bar). This process puts a temporary hold on the funds and it usually shows up as "pending" on your online statement. Don't worry -- as long as you return the equipment (that's the important part), we won't actually charge you and it will expire shortly thereafter.
